Arrowtown 150th Celebrations for the Discovery of Gold

In October 2012 Arrowtown and the Lakes District celebrates 150 years since Gold was discovered in the Arrow and surrounding rivers. The Arrow River will again come to life with a reenactment planned

Labour weekend 19-22nd October will see the Arrow River come to life with gold miners staking their claim, along with horses, wagon and dancing girls.

A reenactment of the Gold Rush 150 years ago is just one of many events planned over the Labour weekend for Arrowtown.

The Otago Goldfields Heritage Trust will also be holding the New Zealand Gold Panning Championship on Sunday 21st October, come along to learn the skills or take part in the action.
