New Zealand is the home of Middle-earth as many people know and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will have its November world premiere in Wellington, New Zealand.

The Hobbit movies have been shot at undisclosed locations around New Zealand during 2011 and 2012 and speculation and anticipation for the films has only increased with Peter Jackson's announcement that the two films will now be three.

This likely means additional filming so details of the filming so far has been kept tightly under wraps. A sneak preview can be glimpsed on Peter Jackson's facebook page where he has posted a series of production videos that give fans a behind the scenes look at the filming of The Hobbit movies so far.

One thing's for sure the actors have definitely been enjoying their time here in Middle-earth.
Earlier this year Ian McKellen who plays Gandalf was quoted saying -
“I feel I know Queenstown quite well,” he says. “I’ve been to places that have the same sort of spirit elsewhere in the world but nowhere in quite such a magnificent setting.”

Queenstown is a popular destination for fans of The Lord of the Rings trilogy as many scenes in the movies were filmed on location in the region. Renewed interest in a pilgrimage to Queenstown and other locations in New Zealand is sure to happen with the release of The Hobbit movies over the next few years.
