Review Listing Information
Check if the information within the New Listing form is optimised for search. Here’s what you should consider:
-
Company Name: Add the name of your company/business.
-
Product Name: This is the name of your product/attraction/restaurant/hotel. This is the name your customers know your product by, and the name they use when they’re searching for your product online. This will become the title of your listing.
-
Summary: This is a very important piece of content. This is the short description of your product that appears on listing category pages.
-
Consider this a short advertisement for your product.
-
Sell the best things about your product; the things you’re famous for and your visitors love.
-
Include the name of your product in this field so this is captured in organic searches.
-
You have 150 characters including spaces to make your product sound awesome!
-
-
Description: This information is crucial for organic search. Please spend a few minutes making your description stronger.
-
Include your product name in the copy at least two times.
-
Include other key words visitors may use when searching your product and any terms you target in your organic search optimisation. For example, include the type of service or product category that applies to you and add any relevant related information people might utilise to find your product or service when searching online.
-
Google recommends a minimum of 300 words per page. Make sure you’re making the most of your description!
-
Top tip: 300 words is quite a lot of text, so make sure you use best practice to make this content enjoyable to read:
-
Use short paragraphs. Three lines is optimal. Don’t exceed five lines.
-
Use subheadings to call out key points. Remember, most people skim read, so make sure that if they skim your listing, they take away the most important things about your business.
-
Use bullet points to break the content up and make it easier to read.
-
TripAdvisor ID: Within the Social Media section, you'll see a field to enter your Trip Advisor ID. TripAdvisor reviews add credibility to your business. They may also help organic search. If you do have a TripAdvisor profile please include your TripAdvisor ID.
Review Images & Video - the Media tab
The visual appeal of your listing is very important and with more and more visitors searching for images, so is the information attached to these files.
-
Video: Add a YouTube video ID to help sell your business to visitors to Queenstown. Videos can be uploaded via the Media tab in the main menu and linked to multiple product listings.
-
Images: Image search is important, and every image you add expands your organic search opportunities, as well as helping to sell your business to prospective visitors. So try to add multiple gallery images where possible. New images can be uploaded via the Media tab in the main menu within the extranet or you can select from the pool of existing images to link them to your listing(s).
Image specs:
-
Main and Gallery images should be 2048w x 960h. Please make sure the subject or point of focus is in the centre of the image, and allow some height above the subject where possible. Try not to have subjects on the outer edges to prevent them being cut off when resized on different devices.
-
Logos should be at least 800w x 600h.
-
Special offer images should be 705w x 489h.
-
There are some great online image editing tools (such as Landscape or Pixlr Editor) to crop your image to the right size.
-
Image Titles: the name of image files are an important information for organic search, make sure image files are renamed with relevant terms before adding them into the listing. Check every image to make sure it has a meaningful title, this includes:
-
Add a unique descriptive title for every image.
-
Include your product name in every title for organic search.
-
-
Description: when uploading new images, make sure to complete the Description field.
-
The description is for organic search and for visually impaired users who rely on screen readers.
-
Use your description to describe what’s happening in the image. Description example: “A woman screams as she bungy jumps from the Kawarau Bridge Bungy in Queenstown, New Zealand.”
-
Include your product name in the description for every image
-
Special Offers Tab
Special Offers can be added via the Special Offers tab in the main menu of the DQ Extranet. This is another opportunity for you to strengthen your business listing’s organic search reach. It’s also a way for you to generate more leads to your business.
