In their first tour of New Zealand, the Sydney Art Quartet present a virtuoso melding of powerful words and stunning music. The heart of this special performance event, featuring NZ actor Kip Chapman, are stories of music and its power, both enhancing and malevolent. Art and Power pairs dramatic readings with the music of Haydn, Schubert, Charpentier and Janacek, to deliver a stunning salon event that will envelop your senses. The Sydney Art Quartet appears in New Zealand courtesy of the Auckland Writers Festival.

SYDNEY ART QUARTET
Founded by cellist James Beck, who also serves as Artistic Director, the acclaimed virtuosic Sydney Art Quartet is made up of Beck, Anna Albert (violin), Andrew Jezek (viola) and Thibaud Pavlovic-Hobba (violin). They are known for their innovative performances that blend art forms, including the literature and music salon piece Art and Power.

KIP CHAPMAN
Actor, writer and director Kip Chapman is an Arts Foundation New Generation Laureate. His acting credits include the TV shows The Lord of the Rings and Top of the Lake. He is the creator of the stage show Hudson & Halls and the interactive experience Destination Mars.
