FIS ANC Freeski & Snowboard Halfpipe & Slopestyle - Winter Games NZ

The Winter Games NZ 2022 Freeski program includes the FIS Australia New Zealand Cup Halfpipe and Slopestyle events. The Australia New Zealand Cup (ANC) is where top athletes compete beside the next generation of freeskiers who are hoping for an exclusive World Cup invitation for the coming Northern Hemisphere Season. All the exciting heart-stopping freeskiing action will be taking place at Cardrona Alpine Resort located in the beautiful Southern Lakes District.

The FIS ANC Halfpipe competition takes place in the only an Olympic sized Superpipe in the Southern Hemisphere. The athletes drop into the pipe and use speed gained by travelling quickly down one side of the halfpipe and then up the other to fly above the lip and execute huge tricks– the bigger and more technical the better!

In the FIS ANC Slopestyle competition, athletes perform technical tricks while descending the course navigating over, across or down a selection of difficult rails and 3 large jumps. The more variety the athlete can create with different directions of rotation and grabs, the higher they are likely to score!

Both disciplines are fantastic spectator events, so take the opportunity to get up close and see these world-class athletes in high definition with your very own eyes!
