Queenstown Hikes Historic Arrow River Hike

Your day begins with a scenic drive from Queenstown towards Arrowtown with a stop at Lake Hayes on the way. Lake Hayes is one of the most photographed lakes in the world, known for its natural beauty. The reflective lake offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, a photographers dream.

Heading along Lake Hayes road you'll pass several top wineries, well known in Central Otago. Then onto Arrowtown where your Historic Arrow River adventure begins. Take time to explore and learn the beginnings of Arrowtown which was born from the 1862 goldrush, whilst following down along the Arrow River. Your friendly guides will point out several historic sites specific to this era.

Arrowtown is well known for its majestic beauty, historic buildings and authenticity from its early beginnings. After the walk discover the original Chinese settlement which offers insight into the lives of these stoic men and even try your hand at gold panning in the gold rich Arrow River.

The Historic Arrow River hike is an easy 5km return trip, suitable for all fitness levels and well suited to families.
