NZ Mountain Film Festival

NZ Mountain Film Festival

The NZ Mountain Film Festival is a five day event in Wanaka, July 4 to 8, and two days in Queenstown, July 10 & 11.

During the months leading up to the event they run a NZ and international adventure filmmaking competition. 130-150 films are submitted annually, these are judged and the best films are selected for screening at the festival. There is over $3,000 awarded to the filmmakers in prizes.

They invite well known international and NZ guest speakers to give talks and put on a community avalanche awareness lecture and an in-expensive schools programme. The event is run by a non-profit chartiable trust and a registered charity (registration #CC49344).

The event is held in the Memorial Hall in Queenstown.

Films and speakers are screened in themed ‘sessions’ consisting of 3-6 films and a where appropriate a speaker. There are a variety of the types of tickets sold: a ‘Festival Pass’ gives access to all sessions at the festival and ‘Single Session’ tickets are also sold for $10 to $30 per person.

We aim to have a free schools programme.

Third year in Queenstown!
