Visitor Economy Data and Insights Summary

This resource provides a summary of key visitor economy statistics, data and insights. The data and statistics used in this resource are gathered from a range of locations and data sources. To explore the data further please head to the Queenstown visitor insights dashboard. It is updated every six months, at the start of August for YE June, and the start of February for YE December.

Emerging Traveller Trends

Emerging Traveller Trends is an independent piece of research that explores how travellers’ expectations, desires and demands have shifted due to factors including the pandemic, climate change and geopolitical situations. 

Activity Insight Guides 

The Activity Insight Guides provide insights into key visitor activity segments in Queenstown. It draws on data from the Queenstown Visitor Experience Survey and industry research. Activity segments play an important role in Queenstown's destination proposition and content themes and will help to attract high-contributing visitors who align with the passions and values of Queenstown residents. Segments include biking, walking and hiking, golf, ski and snow sports, food and drink, and adrenaline activities.
