How to have fun on a rainy day
You're finally going to tick Queenstown off your bucket list, but you’ve got a ‘rain day’.
Fear not, here are a list of wet weather activities to keep your adventure going.
Rain or shine there is always plenty of fun things to do in Queenstown, so get some mates from your hostel and check out some of these wet weather activities.
1. Get spooked
Visit the haunted house, if you dare.
2. Take to the race course
Grab a couple of mates and head to the indoor go karting race track, be warned, it can get pretty competitive.
3. Embrace the ‘wetness’
Canyoning or rafting are great rainy day activities as you’re going to get rather wet anyway! Make sure you check what the water levels are doing, although rare, these can be closed if Mother Nature has been sending too much water for a few days in a row.
4. Catch the latest flick
Head to the movies in Queenstown or check out the boutique cinema in Arrowtown.
5. Crawl baby, crawl
Join a pub crawl, you’ll largely be indoors, you'll meet some new people and have same great drinks and snacks.
6. Check out the Fiords
Head to Fiordland and take a cruise of Milford Sound, in rainy days the waterfalls get even more impressive. If you’re lucky the sun might come out and give you the perfect selfie backdrop.
7. Maybe chill?
Not really something you ever thing of doing in Queenstown, but that’s just a thought. Have an afternoon off and chill out at the hostel and get to know fellow travellers, maybe make some plans for the rest of your holiday and meet a new best friend.
8. But wait, there's more
Mini golf, bowling, laser tagging, trampolining...there's heaps more indoor activities to keep you dry on a rainy day.
Most activities in Queenstown operate all year round and in all weather conditions, but if you’ve booked an air or water activity it might pay to check if the trip is still going ahead.
Try and book weather dependent activities at the beginning of your trip allowing yourself some room for movement if you need to reschedule.
