Try your hand at Frisbee Golfing
Head to the Queenstown Gardens and have a game of frisbee golf or ‘frolf’. Frisbee golf is played much like golf, with similar rules, tee-off areas and targets, but be warned, it can get highly competitive!
Hit the skate park
Have you bought your skateboard with you? The Queenstown skate park has a large skate plaza and bowl situated in the Queenstown Gardens.
Test your knowledge on a Quiz Night
Check out the pub quizzes on during the week, try to tie it in with happy hour, or drink specials!
Get a day’s fishing licence and fish in Lake Wakatipu, or the back country rivers (please check the open dates on the NZ Fish and Game website).
Explore by bike
Have you bought your bike with you? If not, there are plenty of bike hire options around town offering from basic bikes to high specs downhill mountain bikes and e-bikes. Queenstown is host to epic (and free) downhill mountain bike trails, such as Wynyard Park and 7 Mile. You could also pay for lift accessed mountain biking if you want to get more downhill than uphill! For those looking for something more mellow, there are various cycling trails to explore on two wheels.
Mix and mingle
Your hostel or backpackers might have activities and bar events organised for the evening. You may find yourself attached to a bungy cord trying to run the length of the bar, or part of a pub crawl en masse. Get out and meet your fellow travellers!
Check out the sunset, seriously
Queenstown has one of the most epic sunsets you'll ever see - yes, it's a big call but it is truly amazing. Make time to head down to the lakefront and check out the the sun sets behind the mountains and paints the clouds in all kinds of beautiful colours. Over here no two sunsets are the same, so you might want to repeat this one.
Hike Ben Lomond
Tick Ben Lomond off your bucket list, the views are incredible, as well as the bragging rights.
