If you have just finished attending a convention or conference and want to take a few days to yourself before heading back to life and work, there is no better place to do a bit of self-indulgence than Queenstown.

Day one

Once you have arrived into Queenstown and settled into your accommodation, take some time to relax with a day spa experience or soak away any aches and pains at the renowned Onsen Hot Pools.

This evening take a stroll down the Mall or around the lakefront and explore the huge array of dining options. Discover hidden bars and hole in the wall dining spots in the laneways. Be it Indian, Thai, Italian or contemporary pacific rim cuisine, there is something for everyone.

Day two

Today is about getting back to nature. Hire a car and and make your way to the north end of Lake Wakatipu and the townships of Glenorchy, Paradise and Kinloch.  With the awe inspiring back-drop of Mt Aspiring National Park, Lonely Planet named it as “one of the most beautiful drives in the world”. At Glenorchy you can join a scenic jet boat trip to explore further up the river, or drive around and see Paradise from the road.

Grab some lunch at the famous Mrs Woolly’s General Store in Glenorchy and wander down to the Red Shed to enjoy your picnic. On the way back to Queenstown, stop off and do the Bobs Cove Nature Walk. This walk is a short distance from Queenstown with diverse native vegetation on the lakeshore, and is bustling with native bird life with the Remarkables mountain backdrop.

After a day out in the fresh air, a cosy dinner in one of the more upmarket restaurants in Queenstown is in order….and a well-deserved glass of wine.
