Things to do in Queenstown after dark

The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down in Queenstown! Here’s some inspiration for how to make the most of Queenstown after dark.

Ice bars

You can ‘chill out’ year round in a world crafted purely of ice. Gear up, sip on an icy cocktail, and admire expertly crafted ice sculptures, at Below Zero and Minus 5º Ice Bars

Stargazing

Stargazing in Queenstown is a captivating experience and whether you’re an astronomy enthusiast or not, spotting a shooting star is always a thrill. Take a ride up the Skyline Gondola to Bob’s Peak, perched high above Queenstown, and journey into the hidden world of the night sky using a high powered telescope. Or take a trip slightly further afield, to Cardrona Alpine Resort, and learn about the southern skies with expert astronomer Alex Thom (summer season only).

There are plenty of places to enjoy indoor thrills for ‘children’ of all ages after dark in Queenstown. Walk the haunted hallways of the Lockhart Hotel at Queenstown’s Fear Factory, crack codes and escape The Room at Escape Quest, enjoy adrenalin-fuelled indoor experiences at Thrillzone, or test the limits at Game Over Queenstown. If you're an ice skating fan, spend the evening watching an ice hockey game or pop on some skates and give it a go yourself at Queenstown Ice Arena
