Explore the Southern Alps from the skies and land in backcountry wilderness on a scenic flight

Discover our stunning alpine scenery from the skies. Take a scenic flight, or charter a helicopter and land by secluded mountain lakes, or on a glacier.

Because of our remote mountain location, Queenstowners took to the air early. Queenstown airport was granted a license in 1935, two years before commercial flights began in Auckland, and five years before Christchurch airport was founded.

Today you can fly from Queenstown over to Milford Sound and Fiordland. Or land on a wild West Coast beach and collect fresh caught crayfish. Or enjoy the thrill of a snow landing high in the alps complete with a champagne picnic.

Choose a scenic flight, take to the air on a balloon as the sun rises, or combine adventure activities with your flying experience, from heli-rafting to snowboarding, heli-skiing and downhill mountain biking.
