Destination Queenstown works with a number of partners to promote Queenstown and increase our profile in the domestic and international travel industries.
We have strong ties with our members (local business and tourism operators), Tourism New Zealand, airports, airlines, regional tourism organisations and industry bodies.
Find out more about the various formal partnerships, alliances and groups we belong to below.
The Southern Lakes International Marketing Alliance
The Southern Lakes International Marketing Alliance (IMA) is a marketing collective made up of Destination Queenstown, Lake Wanaka Tourism and Destination Fiordland. The alliance promotes the collective Southern Lakes region as a premium visitor destination in long haul markets via participation in Tourism New Zealand-led trade missions and roadshows (e.g. Kiwi Links) in UK, Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Southern Lakes is widely acknowledged as one of New Zealand’s most successful International Marketing Alliances.
New Zealand Tourism Industry
Destination Queenstown is a member of a number of tourism industry bodies to ensure we are up to speed on issues concerning our industry and to make the most of opportunities. These include:
• Tourism Industry Aotearoa
• Regional Tourism Organisations New Zealand (RTONZ)
• NZ Inbound Tour Operators Council (ITOC)
• New Zealand Backpacker, Youth and Adventure Tourism Association
We also work closely in partnership Tourism New Zealand on a number of initiatives throughout the year, including familiarisations, and we attend TIA’s annual TRENZ trade show alongside some of Queenstown’s biggest and newest tourism operators.
International Association of Golf Tour Operators
International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO) is the global trade organisation for the golf tourism industry. IAGTO strives to provide information and create opportunities that help its members develop their business faster, with less effort and less cost.
Destination Queenstown is a member of IAGTO and has attended its annual Asia Golf Tourism Convention which bring buyers and suppliers together in equal numbers to meet and talk business on a regional level.
