Bar & Club Tips

  • Drinking age: You have to be 18 or over to enter a licensed premises or purchase alchohol in New Zealand. Photo ID will be required.
  • Open hours: Bars with restaurants are usually open throughout the day. Other bars start opening from around mid-afternoon. Nightclubs will typically open after 8pm. Bars usually close at around 3am.
  • Dress code: Tidy dress is expected at all Queenstown bars and clubs.
  • Top Tip: If you are aged (or look) under 25, take your passport or another form of photo ID to show at the door or the bar.
