Coronet Peak Coronet Peak Summer Mountain Experience

Just a 16km / 20-minute drive from Queenstown on an easy sealed road with the Wakatipu Basin laid out below you. Enjoy fantastic 360° views of Queenstown and the Southern Alps from the top of our scenic chairlift. Space and time are yours.

Sit back and enjoy a chairlift ride to 1649m. Enjoy world famous views over the Wakatipu basin and back to the divide of the Southern Alps. It’s Queenstown’s new view, suitable for all and perfect for families or maybe even an iconic wedding photo! Take a short hike to the summit for the perfect panorama. While you are up on top of the world take a guided hike out to the Skippers Ridge or go at your own pace and take one of our picnic hampers along with you.

Guided Hikes:

Purchase your ticket at our base building and then meet at the top of the Coronet Express on our viewing deck at 2pm or 4pm. In small groups our guides will take you on a short walk around the summit rocks and out towards Mt Aurum along the ridgeline. On the way you will be shown key points of interest and native flora as well as hear stories of the goldminers and farmers who settled this rugged land. Allow 75 minutes along rolling terrain, supportive footwear required.

Mountain Biking:

Bring your own bike or rent on mountain. The Coronet DH is renowned as a good challenging ride against the Coronet XC on Rocky Gully that is a blue run and suitable for both uphill and downhill riding.

More trails are in for this summer so expect a good time, no queues and easy access from Queenstown. A good range of passes available with a Day, Sunset or Season pass on offer and discounts for NZSki 3 Peak Winter Season Pass holders.

Bike rentals & workshop facilities will be available on the mountain also.

Cafe 1200:

Located right next to the base of the Coronet Express and opening out onto a spacious sunny deck. Choose from our all-day menu and enjoy your meal with a hot or cold drink. We serve a range of cabinet food, perfect for when you are in a hurry and also create luxury hampers for two or more. Order one with your sightseeing pass and relax in the tussock high above the Wakatipu basin for a lunch to remember.
