Coal Pit Vineyard & Winery
Coal Pit is a boutique family vineyard in Central Otago, committed to producing world-class wines from a sustainably accredited vineyard and on-site winery.
Coal Pit Vineyard covers 12 hectares of land in the heart of Gibbston, just 20 minutes from Queenstown. The vineyard is planted with 7 hectares of Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc vines that date back to 1994, some of the oldest in Gibbston. Coal Pit is one of the few single vineyards in Gibbston where the grapes are grown, handpicked and crafted into wines on site.
Producing world-class wines since 2006, Coal Pit wines have long been recognised internationally, with the most recent accolades received for the 2019 ‘Tiwha’ Pinot Noir for the Winestate Trophy, annual Wine of the Year Awards representing the best in Australia and New Zealand. Coal Pit wines can be tasted at Kinross Cellar Door in Gibbston.
