The Cellar Door at Stoneridge - by Nockie's Palette and Stoneridge Estate
$15 NZD
Book NowWhere art and wine come together
This summer, Nockie’s Palette and Stoneridge Estate have collaborated to offer a one-of-a-kind wine tasting & art experience in the heart of the Central Otago wine region. Discover our unique garden setting and learn the fascinating story of the artists behind both wineries as our hosts expertly guide you through tastings of our beautifully-crafted boutique wines.
Nestled amidst acres of stunning gardens and vines, the Cellar Door is a peaceful sanctuary on the shores of Lake Hayes with spectacular lake and mountain views. Once the residence of celebrated New Zealand painter Da’Vella Gore, her artist’s hand can be seen in every aspect of the estate, from the idyllic water features and English-style country gardens to the architecture of the unique tasting room.
Our partnership with Nockie’s Palette Wines, founded and conceived by Australian artist Michael Nock as the idea of ‘where art meets wine’, has allowed artists and artisan to combine talents to bring you something truly extraordinary.
Enjoy a sharing platter and a glass of wine as you relax on the sun-kissed terrace, or pair your tutored tasting with a selection of small bites carefully selected to compliment our award-winning wines.
Our Cellar Door is open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm for wine tastings, platters and nibbles, with bookings available for walk-ins and by appointment.
About Nockie’s Palette wines
Nockie’s Palette Wines was created with a vision to combine Michael Nock’s love of good wine with his passion for art. He believes that just as great works of art are created by the artist so great wines could be crafted by combining the artisan winemaker with the best terroir in the Australasian region.
Nockie’s wines are made by a small number of hand-picked top winemakers from across New Zealand and Australia, and include Central Otago Pinot Noir and Rose, Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay, Barossa Shiraz and Barossa GSM. Their award-winning Pinot Noir grapes are harvested on their Georgetown Vineyard in Central Otago, New Zealand.
About Stoneridge Estate
From a rural hillside overrun by sheep to one of New Zealand’s finest vineyard estates, Stoneridge represents almost forty years of passionate and inspired work by multiple generations of one pioneering Kiwi family.
In 1981, local artist and landowner Da’Vella Gore came across the remains of an old Catholic church on the North Island and a spark was ignited within her. Purchasing the church on a whim with a dream of transporting the sacred materials to her little piece of hillside by Lake Hayes and transforming them into something beautiful, that moment marked the beginning of an incredible family journey.
Over the years, the Gore family have dedicated their lives to building the stunning old English country house that has since been reimagined as our Cellar Door, together with the authentic stone Chapel by the Lake, water gardens and boutique vineyard where we now grow our small-production Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Rose, available exclusively for guests and visitors to Stoneridge Estate.
We invite you to experience the Estate for yourselves and join Da’Vella and her family on this incredible journey which truly has to be seen to be believed.
