Inspired by the intimate neighbourhood restaurants of Europe and the laid-back feeling of everyone’s favourite day of the week, SUNDAYS is a character filled eatery and drink(ery) in a stunning restored church building from 1933.

Neapolitan-style pizzas are the hero of the wood-fired menu, with their light and tasty sourdough bases that perfectly puff up around the edges. These are teamed with a range of delicious toppings from Italian mortadella, to oyster mushrooms with béchamel sauce and locally made pepperoni.

The wood-fired menu continues with a range of shared plates, which can be eaten alongside the pizzas or devoured on their own. Think whole-cooked flounder, succulent Royalburn lamb meatballs and wood-fired leek with carbonara. 

There’s also a snack menu for those popping in for a drink, with everything from salty, cheesy, pecorino churros to wood-fired flatbread with chilli oil and ricotta and of course much-loved agria fries.

Sangria is the star of the drinks offering, with three refreshing cocktails to choose from: red, white and pink. Along with all the much-loved classics like margaritas, spritz and a great Coffee Supreme espresso martini. There are plenty of options for the wine drinkers, with a boutique list that heroes the wider Otago region. Plus, there are six beers on tap (including all the local favourites) and a well-stocked fridge. 

Everything can be enjoyed inside the charming church, outside on the covered patio (complete with fireplace) or on the lawn area while the kids play on the playground, or pet the friendly horses over the fence. There’s something for every occasion at SUNDAYS.
