Enhance your Visitor Experience - Connecting Queenstown’s Identity to Te Ao Māori Values
Queenstown is a destination that delivers an incredible visitor experience, and what makes an experience memorable is often how strongly it connects to the place.
This session will explore how Tāhuna Queenstown's identity, as revealed through the PlaceDNA research, connects with Te Ao Māori values. You’ll consider what this could mean for your own visitor experience, alongside the broader destination experience, and how values can shape visitor behaviour, and contribute to collective impact for Queenstown.
Who should attend and what you’ll gain
This session is for owners, managers and anyone involved in shaping their visitor experience or telling the story of the place. At the session, you'll:
-
Learn how Te Ao Māori values connect to Tāhuna Queenstown's identity and how they have the potential to shape behaviour and create collective impact.
-
Consider what a stronger connection to place could mean for your product, your storytelling and your team.
-
Identify where your business already reflects Queenstown's identity and where you can go further.
Background: the PlaceDNA research
The PlaceDNA research, carried out earlier this year, set out to define Queenstown's authentic identity through the voices of its residents, research and mana whenua perspectives. The final report gave Queenstown a shared, evidence-based set of attributes to guide destination marketing and management, community wellbeing and future growth, while protecting what makes Queenstown unique.
