Kinloch Wilderness Retreat

Kinloch Wilderness Retreat offers a variety of rooms to suit all budgets. Step back in time to settler history in our Heritage lodge from 1868, featuring 6 rooms sleeping up to 12 (group rates available), 2 luxury bathrooms, a private lounge and terrace. Our wilderness rooms provide quality YHA associated accommodation including double rooms, superking rooms and family rooms, through to budget rooms and bunks.

With both excellent self catering facilities and a restaurant on site, this is a great base for spending a few days exploring the area, or starting and finishing a multi day hike from. In the trekking season shuttles to and from Queenstown, Kinloch and the Routeburn / Greenstone/ Caples tracks are available. We also run boat trips across the lake to/from Glenorchy, a 5 min journey. Group meals & small meeting packages are available.

Activities in the area include kayaking, horse treks, ziplining, electric 4WDs, packrafting, guided walks and more. Enjoy all year fishing on the lake, our open air hot tub or relax in the TV room with 100s of movies & free popcorn! You're immersed in nature wherever you are on site, although sunrise and starry nights accompanied by frogs and owls are high points.
