Explore our wild rivers on a Queenstown jet boating adventure

Skim across the water, whizz round corners and shoot through narrow rocky gorges on a high-speed Queenstown jet boat ride. Queenstown is home to the world’s first commercial jet boat tour. Brothers Alan and Harold Melhop set up Kawarau Jet Services (or KJet as they’re now known) in 1959, introducing locals and visitors to a new kind of water adventure.

Today, adrenaline jet boat tours vary from white-knuckle white water rides, to wilderness tours, and even combos that offer jet boating followed by boutique wine tasting.

Experience a new generation of jet boats on Lake Whakatipu. Hydro Attack’s semi-submersible sharks are another world-first - a cross between a jet and torpedo, they hit speeds of 80kph, diving beneath the surface and breaching into the air.
