Day 1 - Arrive with a splash
Get off the plane and straight into the Queenstown spirit on an exhilarating jet boat ride with one of the five different local jet boat companies. Options vary across the board with trips ranging from 20min thrills and spills to a fully immersive half day adventure. A great activity for slightly older children as they must be at least 1 metre high to ride. Wind down from an exciting first day with a world famous Fergburger on one of the many spectacular picnic spots along the shores of Lake Whakatipu.
Day 2 - Educational farm tours
Did you know there are two working farms in Queenstown that your family can visit and experience real, rural South Island life? Both farms are located on the opposite side of the lake at Walter or Cecil Peak and only accessed by boat which makes it the perfect half day activity. Disembark your cruise to experience a local farm tour with sheep dog shows and sheep shearing, followed by feeding the farm animals and petting highland cows and baby lambs.
Day 3 - Luge, food and views
No trip to Queenstown is complete without a scenic Gondola ride to the top of Bob’s Peak, 450 meters above Queenstown. Once at the top, a hair-raising 800 metre luge ride is sure to bring out the cheeky and competitive inner-child in all family members. Race yourself or your family! Finish the adventures off with a full buffet lunch or dinner at the Stratosfare restaurant overlooking Queenstown.
Reduce the pace a little on the way back down the Gondola and stop off at the Kiwi Park. Here, the kids can get up close to over 20 species of native wildlife and experience conservation in action.
Day 4 - Get off the beaten track
Spend the final day getting off the beaten track with an off road adventure or land tour in Queenstown and venture where few people have gone before. Choose from various local tours depending on your interests, whether you’re after a journey into Lord of the Rings country or an electrifying 4wd tour across river beds, there are plenty of options for all.
