• Duration: 2 hours return, 30 minutes additional for summit
  • Best time to go: All year
  • Location: Queenstown
  • Starting/Finish Point: Downtown Queenstown
  • Difficulty: Intermediate
  • Bike too? Yes, steep riding.

For a moderate challenge, starting directly from downtown, visitors can test their legs on the Queenstown Hill Loop Track up to the ‘Basket of Dreams’, a favourite lookout spot.

The three-hour walk starts and finishes on Belfast Street, or from downtown Queenstown (follow Ballarat Street and then Kerry Drive to Belfast Terrace) and offers views over the Whakatipu basin to Cecil Peak, the Frankton Arm and Queenstown Bay.

The reward: Stunning views around the Whakatipu Basin and a cardio fix to boot.
