There's plenty of things to do in Queenstown at night from stargazing to indoor activities for the whole family. Make the most of the evening and explore downtown Queenstown at dusk.
Ice bars
You can ‘chill out’ year round in a world crafted purely of ice. Gear up, sip on an icy cocktail, and admire expertly crafted ice sculptures, at Below Zero, Minus 5º Ice Bars and Queenstown Ice Bar. If this kind of ice experience isn't for you and the kids, then try the Queenstown Ice Arena. There's plenty of ice related activities for everyone to enjoy from Ice skating, Ice bumper cars and Ice hockey to a garden bar.
Stargazing
Stargazing in Queenstown is a captivating experience and whether you’re an astronomy enthusiast or not, spotting a shooting star is always a thrill. Take a ride up the Skyline Gondola to Bob’s Peak, perched high above Queenstown, and journey into the hidden world of the night sky using a high powered telescope. There is a minimum age of 6 on the Skyline stargazing tours so leave the little ones with a caregiver. Or take a private guided astro tour and immerse yourself in the Southern Hemisphere's magical night sky.
Indoor thrills
There are plenty of places to enjoy indoor thrills for ‘children’ of all ages after dark in Queenstown. Walk the haunted hallways of the Lockhart Hotel at Queenstown’s Fear Factory, crack codes and escape The Room at Escape Quest, enjoy adrenalin-fuelled indoor experiences at Thrillzone, or test the limits at Game Over Queenstown. If you're a bowling fan, make sure you walk up Brecon Street to Kingpin and try your hand at ten pin bowling!
Evening Lake Cruise
Jump aboard the iconic TSS Earnslaw Vintage Steamship and spend an evening out with family and friends. Cruise over to Walter Peak High Country Farm where you can enjoy a gourmet barbeque dinner at the Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant. The sticky date pudding is a crowd favourite, so make sure you save some room after dinner for the delectable lineup of desserts.

Local Cinema
Queenstown caters for all tastes and interests when it comes to local cinema and entertainment. Watch the latest blockbusters on the big screen at Silky Otter Queenstown, enjoy an exciting interactive 12D movie at Thrillzone or catch an award-winning film with wine and a cheese board at boutique cinema Dorothy Browns.

Gondola, Night Luge & Skyline Dinner
Hop on board the Skyline Gondola and take in the stunning views as you ride the steepest cable car lift in the Southern Hemisphere! Once at the top you can take a thrilling downhill ride on the Skyline Luge, enjoy Skyline’s weekly programme of movies and performances in their 76-seat theatre space, or settle in for a relaxing evening at Stratosfare Restaurant.

Hot pools
Whether you’re after a romantic tub for two, a fun evening with friends, or a place for the whole family to enjoy, Queenstown has plenty to offer all of the water-babies out there.
Fun for the whole family, Alpine Aqualand boasts a heated 25m lap pool, a leisure pool and lazy river, hot pools and hydro slides. If you’re after something a little more intimate, Onsen Hot Pools & Day Spa and Driftaway Queenstown are always favourites, some local hotels also offer hot pools for public hire such as Millbrook Resort
