Here’s the final Mountainwatch snow report for the 2020 season, however there's still good snow and plenty of events on across our ski fields right through until mid-October! Find out what's happening across Queenstown and Lake Wanaka this week, including Winter Pride kicking off this Friday and the final night ski event at Coronet Peak.
Snow Report - 19 August 2020
Coming at you from Lake Wanaka, here’s this weekly mountain update for Mountainwatch, covering everything that’s happening across our ski areas this week. Our mountains are still open and operational under Level 2, and there is a lot going on this week including Winter Games NZ Obsidian at Cardrona and Treble Cone, and Night Ski at Coronet Peak this Friday. The Remarkables is open on weekends and all terrain parks are open and longer laps on the new Sugar chair lift.

Here is this week’s snow report for Mountainwatch. After an unusually warm week, it sounds like winter is returning and more snow is in the forecast. There are some epic on-mountain events this weekend including Bikes on Snow at Cardrona, and the Adaptive Snow Festival and Mini Shred at The Remarkables. The annual Winter Games NZ kicks off on Monday 10 August too with their new Obsidian event.

Here’s the low down on the forecast and what’s happening across our ski fields this week, including Bikes on Snow at Cardrona, Night Ski at Coronet Peak and the opening of the brand-new world-class Sugar chairlift at The Remarkables Ski Area.

We’re in for some more fresh snow this week and there are some cool on-mountain events happening too, including Skin to Summit at Coronet Peak on 23rd July and a mid-winter Christmas event at The Remarkables on 25th July.
Snow Report - 15 July 2020
It’s the final week of the school holidays and there’s plenty of on-mountain events and activities for all ages. We’ve had loads of fresh snow across all ski areas and this week’s forecast is looking great with sunshine through until Sunday!
Don’t forget to mark the Winter Games Obsidian event in your calendar from 10-20 August, with 21 of New Zealand’s best freeski and snowboard athletes pitted against each other in four progressive events over 10 days in four different sporting events. Find out more here.

This week has been the snowiest week of the season and the snow guns have been blasting. All ski fields are now open for the school holidays, Coronet Peak’s first tracks kicked off this week, and Treble Cone is holding a ‘Race Ya Mates’ competition this Sunday. Friday is looking like a bluebird day so pack your skis and get up the mountain!
