SNOW REPORT - 12 AUGUST 2026
A 5-10cm top-up across Queenstown & Wānaka ski fields freshened up the slopes over the weekend, with more snow possible in the coming days.
The Remarkables picked up 10cm on Sunday, setting up the Alta Chutes nicely and all three terrain parks at Sugar Bowl. Treble Cone is hosting the Freeride World Tour 2 Star Qualifier from 18-20 August, with three days of steep lines and big drops. Wind-loaded pockets are the go at Cardrona Alpine Resort, with some big names starting to throw down in the park. Coronet Peak's groomers are laying perfect cords for First Tracks daily from 8-9am and Friday brings the Asahi Night Ski with DJs on the deck. Snow Farm is gearing up for its 31st Merino Muster with 1km, 21km and 42km events on Saturday 22 August.

SNOW REPORT - 5 AUGUST 2026
Cold mornings, fresh corduroy and a few more centimetres of snow to work with, it's shaping up to be a good week on the mountains.
We're reporting from Cardrona Alpine Resort this week, where they're still making the most of last week's snowfall. Stag Lane terrain park is now stacked with new features. The Remarkables picked up 20-30cm, making for some epic laps, with eight jumps expected to be added to the terrain park by the weekend. Coronet Peak has the 52nd Dog Derby landing this Saturday, 8 August. Treble Cone has opened the Motatapu Chutes, with the Base NZ Wānaka Junior Freeride kicking off this Saturday and Freerid'her on Sunday.

SNOW REPORT - 29 JULY 2026
Friday's forecast is 10cm of snow to lower levels across the region, then a sunny, powdery weekend to kick off August.
We’re reporting from Coronet Peak this week, where crisp, clear mornings and daily First Tracks from 8-9am make for ideal conditions on freshly groomed runs. Tonight is the biggest Night Ski Party of the year, with Hot Dub Time Machine on the decks and free entry (grab a night ski pass to ride under lights). Treble Cone had a 20cm powder day last weekend, and Friday's storm could bring a second in a row. Main Street has come to the party, groomed top to bottom. The Remarkables is due up to 10cm on Friday to set up the chutes. Cardrona has the four-day Snow Sports NZ Adaptive Festival from Thursday, and the Kings and Queens of Antlers on Saturday. Over at Snow Farm, River Run, Tumeke and the Main Basin are all groomed with great skiing conditions.

SNOW REPORT - 22 JULY 2026
A series of cold fronts are rolling through from Friday, with most resorts hoping to pick up a minimum of 10-15cm. If the forecast holds, it’s looking like a snowy end to July.
We’re reporting from Snow Farm this week, with 1.5km of groomed trails in beautiful shape, plus snow play, tubing and overnight hut experiences on offer. The Remarkables has all lifts running, including Shadow Basin. The new Ice Bar is now open on Curvey Basin and the Mini Shred event is happening this Sunday. Cardrona now has four terrain parks open from beginner to advanced, with glorious grooming making sunrise laps in Captain’s Basin something special. Coronet Peak has First Tracks running 8-9am daily, plus the first Night Ski Party of the season on Wednesday, 29 July. Treble Cone is eyeing up a potential 20cm this Saturday. If it delivers, summit hikes and Saddle Chair will be the place to be.

SNOW REPORT - 15 JULY 2026
We're back with the weekly Queenstown & Wānaka Snow Report.
The Remarkables has picked up 20cm over the past 48 hours, with Sugar Bowl and Curvey Basin open for top-to-bottom laps and the announcement that Scarpa Bowl is now within the ski field boundary. Cardrona Alpine Resort has all chairlifts spinning including Soho Basin, with Little Bucks terrain park opening today, and the Butter Bean Rail Jam this Saturday. Coronet Peak has another big week of Night Ski on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Treble Cone has received 10cm of fresh snow on the upper mountain, with the Saddle Basin and Summit Slopes open. Snow Farm has River Run as the groomer's pick today, plus snow play and snowshoeing available.
It's the last week of school holidays, so make sure you hire rentals in town before heading up, allow extra time on the road, and grab a coffee at the base to start the day slow.

SNOW REPORT - 8 JULY 2026
A southerly storm delivered up to 20cm of fresh snow this week, with Treble Cone Ski Area now open. Home Basin Express and the learners area are running, and the refreshed base building is ready to make those well-earned breaks after Triple Treat laps even better. The Remarkables has Curvey Basin now spinning, with fresh terrain park features ahead of Sunday's Mini Shred event. Cardrona Alpine Ski Resort is making the most of the fresh snow, with Whitestar and Valley View now open. Snow Farm is also open for the season. Coronet Peak has a busy week of events, with Night Ski on Friday, bonus Saturday Night Skis on 11 and 18 July, and Kids Day Out this Saturday.
Schools are out this week. A few tips to make the most of your time on the mountain:
- Book lift passes online and hire gear in Queenstown and Wānaka before heading up to save time
- Allow extra time on the road and carry snow chains
- Try an early or late lunch to make the most of your time on the slopes

SNOW REPORT - 1 JULY 2026
We're back with this week's Queenstown & Wānaka Weekly Snow Report,
Opening weekend delivered. Last week's storm delivered 10-15cm of snow, and the mountains are looking good to kick off the season. A front is rolling in on Friday night, with snow forecast at ski resorts over the weekend. It's all happening across the mountains.
Cardrona Alpine Resort has McDougall's Chondola and McPark terrain park open, and cold overnight temps are keeping the on-piste snow in great shape. At Coronet Peak, the Coronet Express and Meadows Chairlifts are spinning for top-to-bottom skiing, with First Tracks running daily from 8–9am, Night Ski kicking off tonight, and Kids Day Out on 4 July. Over at The Remarkables, Alta Chairlift and Sugar Bowl Express are now open, and fresh rails and boxes have been added to the terrain park. Keep an eye on Treble Cone Ski Area for opening updates, as they will be ready to go as soon as nature delivers.

SNOW REPORT - 24 JUNE 2026
The first weekly Queenstown / Wānaka Snow Report of 2026 is here!
Snow is in the forecast tonight and into tomorrow, and the ski resorts are gearing up for the season ahead.
Coronet Peak is already open with skiing and a rail garden on the Twin Magic Carpets and Beginner Carpet, plus snow play, sledding and gondola sightseeing. With natural snow and prime snowmaking conditions on the way, Cardrona Alpine Resort is aiming to open its learners’ area on Friday, and The Remarkables is set to follow on Saturday with its learners’ slope. Keep an eye on Treble Cone Ski Area’s channels for opening day updates.
New for 2026: Cardrona and Treble Cone’s app can turn your phone into your lift pass and track your mountain stats, Coronet Peak’s Snow Factory (a South Island-first) can produce around 240 cubic metres of snow a day, and The Remarkables has expanded its base building and installed fire pits on the deck.
