Where is Queenstown and Wānaka?
Queenstown is located in the southwest corner of the South Island and is accessible with daily direct flights from all of New Zealand’s main centres. Direct scheduled services are also available from Australia's eastern centres; Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Gold Coast.
Just over the hill, Wānaka is a short and scenic journey from Queenstown, taking around an hour to drive over the Crown Range or through the Kawarau Gorge. This makes it easy to include both destinations in a single itinerary.
Queenstown and Wānaka are connected to the rest of the South Island by some of the country’s most spectacular driving routes. As the gateway to the Southern Way touring route, the region is perfectly placed for slow travel adventures, linking seamlessly with Fiordland, Southland, Dunedin and beyond. Queenstown, Arrowtown, Gibbston, Glenorchy, Kingston, Wanaka and Fiordland all make up the impressive Southern Lakes region, renowned for its diverse landscapes and spectacular scenery.
